Good ‘Karma’

Namrata and Anaheeta Irani’s Jugalbandi

Danseuse Vaishali Irani’s academy presented ‘Karma 2016’ on 11th December, 2016, a dance show at YB Chavan Auditorium, the proceeds of which were donated to the Cancer Patient’s Aid Association.

Dr. Aasha and her troupe of students performed on popular retro songs on violins and electronic drum sets, both fairly uncommon musical instruments for retro music, followed by an ode to Goddess Durga by Anaheeta Irani and her troupe. Comedian Vijay Pawar performed mimicry of over 30 Bollywood singers and actors in a couple of minutes, leaving the audience in splits. Next, the legendary musical composer Anandji Virji Shah highlighted how Karma was spreading smiles through dance as well as by helping those in need. Anaheeta and Namrata Irani along with their students dedicated a dance for him and then proceeded on to their famous Jugal Bandi act. Through a video message, Priya Dutt spoke about her mother Late Nargis Dutt inaugurating Vaishali Nrityaniketan and went on to add how this dance school and Karma has blossomed over the years, urging everyone to support Karma.

Vaishali further informed the crowd about her recently formed organization, ‘Mushkil Aasan’ where she as its Founder and President has managed to help two cancer patients with their treatment. She then handed over a cheque to the Cancer Patient’s Aid Association and gave gifts to all the ‘heroes’ battling cancer. She also gave tokens of appreciation to the sponsor of the Karma event 2016 – Nanu Daruwalla and other donors.

The event concluded with Actress Diana Pinto graciously picking up lucky draw chits and speaking about her experiences as a physiotherapist and her personal remedies for stress management, followed by a finale performance. Anchor Simran Ahuja hosted the event.
