Nowroze Baug started the summer vacations by organizing ‘The All Parsis Throwball, Direct and Indirect Volleyball Tournaments’, under the joint auspices of Nowroze Baug Play Centre and NN Wadia Welfare League, at the Nowroze Baug grounds, from 6th to 15th April, 2017. With over 32 teams participating in Volleyball and Throwball events, the finals of Throwball was held on 7th April, 2017, where Malcolm Baug won the tournament against Godrej Baug with by 3-0.

Direct Volley ball saw tough competition in the final round between two stalwart teams, namely, C J Colony A – Team Tiger and Marezban Colony, with former being declared winners. The Indirect Volleyball finals were a repeat clash between DPCSWA and Nowroze Baug- A, with DPCSWA keeping the lead in all sets and finally grabbing the trophy.

Felicitating the best in every game, Ruzbeh of C J Colony A- Team Tiger was declared ‘Player of the Direct Volleyball Tournament’, Rayomand Irani of DPCSWA won ‘The Player of Indirect Volleyball Tournament’, while Maheet of Malcolm Baug was ‘Player of Throwball Tournament’. Malcolm Baug’s young Soli was ‘Best Promising Player of Indirect Volleyball Tournament’.

The Chief Guest for the evening was Lion Daara B. Patel and wife, Katy. Coach and Chief Referee for all volleyball tournaments, Ansari Mohammed Hassan M Yunus, (Hasan Sir) was felicitated by Nowroze Baug with a shawl and a plaque, for his contribution in coaching and bringing out the best in all his volleyball Parsi students. The event concluded with a show of gratitude towards the residents of Nowroze Baug, especially Block ‘R’ for bearing with the sound and cheering, Title Sponsor, Zoroastrian bank and Co-Sponsors, WZO Trust, India and Bank of Maharashtra, as well as all the volunteers and scorers who assisted in organizing the tournament successfully.
