Setayesh Of Dadar Ahura Mazda

Daisy P. Navdar is a teacher by profession and a firm believer in the efficacy of our Manthravani. She is focused on ensuring that the deep significance of our prayers is realized by our youth. She credits her learnings and insights, shared in her articles, to all Zoroastrian priests and scholars whose efforts have contributed towards providing light and wisdom for all Zarthostis.

As we begin one more year, let’s work towards bringing in positive changes and reinforcements into the one thing which affects us the most – ourselves! We are all created by Dadar Ahura Mazda, as ‘Hormuzd’ (meaning ‘man’). He has gifted us speech, intellect and the ability to create. We are unique and different from the rest of His creations in all aspects. He has blessed us with the ability to choose between right and wrong.  However, the most important aspect of being human is the ability to believe in a higher power. We are all recipients of this most wonderful gift. It is our belief and faith that takes us forward.

To maintain this connects with Pak Dadar Ahura Mazda, we have been gifted our divine manthras. The ‘Hormazd Yasht’ strengthens our personal divine energy and gives us divine knowledge. It also protects us against the evil forces around us. This Yasht also helps in curing severe ailments and is beneficial to all who are suffering from diseases. However, most of us are unable to make the time to regularly practice these, and hence we have substitutes in the form of short Nirangs and Setayeshes, like the one given below.

This Setayesh is a shorter version of the ‘Hormazd Yasht’ and is most powerful in all aspects of its vibrational forces:

Khshnaothra Ahurahe Mazdao – Ashem Vohu

Dadare veh avazuni, takhmana, khudae mehest , dana, Ahuramazda, vispa tavan, vispa agah, afridar va dashtare hama dame geti va mino!

Avat setayam va zabayam va khishinam pa har gah va zaman! Sepas dar hom az to dadare rayomand khorehmand ke fraz barhenid avam, dehid getiha dorostie tan! Pa har air kame anjamih, pa hama kare dadastane frarun patukih va khojesteh khub morvak va khub frajamih bad! Ashem Vohu.

This prayer should be recited daily, but it is particularly important to recite it on Hormazd Roj and its hamkarasDaepadar, Daepmeher and Daepdin Roj. Fortify yourself with the grace and benefit of the Hormazd Roj ni Setayesh as you sail into a brand-new year, with a brand new level of elevated consciousness!
