Kudos to Father-Daughter Taleyarkhan Duo!

US-based father-daughter duo – Dr. Rusi Pesi Taleyarkhan, Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Purdue University; and his daughter, Pervin Taleyarkhan, Legal Counsel at Whirlpool Corporation, as also professor and IP Clinic Director at the Indiana University School of Law – have done the global Zoroastrian community proud with their achievements, making meaningful contributions to their fields and communities.

Dr. Rusi Taleyarkhan was recently honored by the prestigious British Royal Society of Chemistry (one of the oldest, widely recognized global bodies in Chemical and Materials Science discoveries), which featured his research on life-saving radiation detection devices on the front cover of their February 2022 Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry. As a professor, Dr. Rusi leads award-winning projects in nuclear energy/medicine and combating nuclear terrorism.

He has received numerous prestigious scientific awards. Starting with a B. Tech degree from IIT-Madras and an MBA and PhD in the United States, Rusi was bestowed the George Westinghouse Engineering Excellence Medal in 1984. As a distinguished R&D Staff Scientist (Engineer rank) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee, many of his projects were publicized worldwide. He has been named Fellow of the American Nuclear Society and Russian Academy of Sciences. He was also honoured by WZCC with the Outstanding Professional of the Year Award (2005).  Dr. Rusi is also the CTO of the start-up ‘SALabs, LLC’.

Speaking with Parsi Times, Dr. Rusi says, “Once you know what you’re doing is right, you must stay the course.  This is what our Zoroastrian religion teaches us – to stand up for what is right, despite (and especially during) challenges. Live the principles of Vohu Manu, and ultimately truth triumphs!”

Rusi and his daughter, Pervin, recently shared notable success representing years of effort and professional skills by both – Rusi as an inventor and Pervin as an engineer-attorney:  On 8th February, 2022, US Patent Number 11,243,315 was issued, which covers inventions on novel radiation detectors. The patent was issued to inventor Dr. Rusi and drafted and prosecuted by his daughter, Attorney Pervin Taleyarkhan. “Our powerful Zoroastrian prayers teach us to live life with integrity and righteousness and to find ways to help others, which includes helping others to succeed too.  Living by these principles facilitates not only our own personal growth, but also that of our social and professional circles,” said Pervin, who is also the WZCC Global Director (USA) and recipient of numerous global recognitions.

Rusi and wife Navaz are both Parsis from Mumbai, settled in the US. In addition to Pervin, they have two daughters – Manaz and Meher, both practicing engineers.

It’s good to see that Dr. Talyerkhan has restored some of his credibility which was badly damaged due to the whole “cold fusion” fiasco. His stellar career succumbed in its eagerness to reach the holy grail of “cold fusion”. A few other scientists before him had the same unfortunate experience. Wishing the father-daughter duo the best!
