Young Rathestars Hold Annual Distribution Camp In Rural Gujarat

The Young Rathestars is a group of Parsis based in Dadar, Mumbai who reach out to the poor and needy Parsi Zoroastrian families by providing Educational Aid, Medical Aid, Financial Aid and distribution of grains and other household items in Mumbai, Pune and the interior villages of Gujarat.

For over two decades now, the Committee Members of Young Rathestars have been personally visiting the interior villages of Gujarat as a part of the Gujarat Poverty Relief Project. This year saw another successful Annual Food Distribution Camp by the noble team, comprising Arnavaz Mistry, Homiyar Doctor, Shiraz Guard, Aspi Elavia and Aspi Tantra, held from 21st to 23rd February, 2024.

Setting up the base camp at Ankleshwar, the Young Rathestar’s team covered 20 remote villages – including Borbatha, Mandvi, Ambapardi, Ambawadi, Varetpetia, Sathvav, Khodamba, Jakharda, Vankal, Boria, Zankhvav, Sanandhara, Madhi, Balda, Rajpipla, Vyara, Khodamba, Regama, Sural, Ankleshwar and Gandevi – and providing much needed rations and utility items for the impoverished community members residing here.

This year, over 60 families were provided sadra, oil, pulses, cereals, household articles, bed-sheets, blankets, napkins, towels, tea, sugar, wool and much more. The team ensured to spend time with the beneficiaries and also provided Medical Aid and Educational Aid to ensure that they were well supported.

Speaking to Parsi Times, Arnavaz Mistry shared, “It is always a heart-warming experience to visit the families and the warm welcome we get is a priceless feeling.” She spoke of the enthusiasm with which Parsipanu and traditions still continue in their homes, despite their challenging conditions. “I thank all the donors and the well wishes and I hope to keep up to the mission to continue this noble cause,” she added.
