Dear Readers,

Tomorrow, 12^th May, 2024, marks the onset of one of the most auspicious months of the Parsi calendar – Dae Mahino, dedicated to our Creator, the Supreme Amesha Spenta – Dadaar Hormazd. Considered the month of giving thanks to the Creator, every year, Jasans are performed at homes, Parsi-owned workplaces and at our Agiaries and Atash Behrams.

Jasans brings much peace to our minds, as the priests chant our powerful prayers, while the divine fragrance from the holy fire ignites our olfactories, filling us with a sense of purity and gratitude… and then of course, let’s not forget the yummy malido-papri and chasni we receive at the end… overall, a magnificent experience which recharges all the senses!

As we extend gratitude in thanking our Creator in heaven, let’s also take the time to show our appreciation and thankfulness to our Creator right here on earth – our Mothers! And what better time to make that grand gesture of gratitude and love, than Mother’s Day, which will also be celebrated tomorrow!

Do all it takes to ensure you bring a huge smile to her face and in her heart, because you’ll never truly know how very blessed you are to have her in your life, until it’s too late. In the words of the great poet, Khalil Gibran, “The most beautiful word on the lips of mankind is the word ‘Mother’, and the most beautiful call is the call of ‘My Mother’.”

But there’s more, 12^th May also heralds the onset of ‘Bahman Mahino’ for our Kadimi brethren – so here’s wishing more power to those abstaining from a non-veg diet all month long – a challenging task indeed for most!
