M J Wadia Agiary (Lalbaug) held a session of its Structured Religious Course (SRC) recently, on Homaji Baj Day, in honour of the pious Homaji, who was falsely implicated in the death of an unborn child, 250 years ago. He was executed (hanged) based on false evidence given by his detractors, though he pleaded innocent, saying that those responsible for implicating him would meet their fate on his ‘charum’ day, which is exactly what happened. Till today, many offer ‘baj’ prayers in his remembrance.

The SRC dwelled deep in the Havan Geh, bringing to light its significance and efficacy. The detailed explanation given by Er. Dr. Ramiyar Karanjia was very enlightening, wherein the devotee should first attune with Sarosh Yazad through Sarosh Baj and then the Havan Geh and the Divine Being (Mithra) presiding in it. All Gehs comprise five parts, of which the first, third and fifth parts are relevant to the particular Geh; and second and fourth parts are common to all Gehs. While we invoke the Divine Beings of the particular Geh in the first and fifth parts, the kernel of the Geh is the third part. In the second part, we invoke Ahura Mazda, Zarathustra, His Fravashi, Amesha Spenta and all Fravashis of material and spiritual worlds, Ratus and Yazatas. Besides Mithra, the other co-workers of Havan Geh include Havani, Savanghi and Visya, righteous lord of righteousness.
