The Zoroastrian Youth Association, Poona hosted an eve of community festivity celebrating the auspicious Khordad Saal on 20th August, 2024, at the Sardar Dastur Hormazdiar High School and Junior College premises. The event commenced with the felicitation of young achievers who completed their class X and XII Boards, by Farrah Gustaspi, Principal – Sardar Dastur Hormazdiar High School.
Hosts Behnaz Nanavatti and Eden Beramfram kept the crowd entertained as the evening progressed with a Kathak performance by young Kyra Narielwalla and the Parsi-favourite game of Tambola (Housie), which had all – from age 9 to 90, playing with great enthusiasm, and many winning vouchers from sponsors. This was followed by ZYA acknowledging and felicitating the noble work done by the hardworking Khandias or pall-bearers (nasesalars), who play a vital role in the community’s religious and cultural practices.
The eve concluded with a delicious Parsi bhonu. Thanks was extended to Trustees of Dastur School for the premise and all the sponsors, as also to the volunteers for the event, which was meticulously organised by the dynamic ZYA committee members – Farah Khambatta, Behnaz Nanavatti, Zoish Motiwalla, Shaun Postwalla, Nausheen Hormazdi, Senaea Ukaji, Mediomah Engineer, Kaizeen Kamdin, and Viraf Irani.
