On 17th February, 2025, the Humbandagi group of Maneckbai Chenoy Agiary Hyderabad, completed 19 years of conducting its weekly Humbandagi, at the Agiary premises, every Monday, at 7:00 pm. The Humbandagi was led by Head Priest, Er. Mehernosh Bharucha and in his absence, by Er. Kerfegar Antia. This was followed by a religious talk by Farida Antia.
After Er. Mehernosh Bharucha had conducted the Humbandagi, Farida Antia also shared a humorous talk on origin of Parsi Theatre and its popularity in those days. Next, Cyrus Tarapore recited his original short poem, ‘In-House Care’, seeking support for deserving senior community members to live with dignity and grace. The congregation then moved to the community hall, where Fram Desai conducted fun games where prizes were won by 93-year-old Nergish Kalyaniwala and Sooni Patrawala.
In her vote of thanks, Jeroo Debara, who has been attending the Humbandagi regularly despite living at a distance, thanked Er. Mehernosh Bharucha and Er. Kerfegar Antia, for consistently conducting the Humbandagi over the last 19 years, as also extended gratitude to Farida Antia, Fram Desai and Rusi Doctor – Treasurer of the Trust, for their unstinted support; and to all members of the Humbandagi group who have kept the Humbandagi going for nearly two decades. The event concluded with rendition of , ‘Chaiye Hame Zarathushti’, followed by dinner.
The Bai Maneckbai Nusserwanji Chenoy Dar-E-Meher, located on Tilak Road was built in October 1904 and was awarded the prestigious ‘HUDA Heritage Building Award’, in 2001.
