LCB Launches Project For Paediatric Cancer, Epilepsy At BJWHC

The Lions Club of Byculla (LCB), under President Lion Adil Mistry and Lion Lady Jinaz Mistry, launched a landmark initiative to support underprivileged children battling cancer and epilepsy at the Department of Neurosciences and Neurosurgery in Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children (BJWHC), on 15th January, 2025. With a fundraising goal of ₹7 crores ($825,000), this project aims to provide critical medical equipment and treatment aid.

BJWHC, a 525-bed trust-run hospital, serves thousands of underprivileged children annually. Neurology OPD treats 7,000-10,000 patients per year, with 5,000 diagnosed with epilepsy. Of these, 1,500-2,000 suffer from drug-resistant epilepsy and need surgery. The Lions Club of Byculla has supported BJWHC for over four years and is now expanding its impact.

To support fundraising, the club has launched the Do-Good Cookbook, compiled by its members and unveiled by celebrity Chef Cyrus Todiwala. The book features global recipes from supporters of the cause. The launch event saw backing by Noshir Dadrawala – Chief Executive of Centre for Advanced Philanthropy, Kalyan Karmakar – food influencer and Lion Dr. Uday Andar – Honorary Paediatric Neurosurgeon with BJWHC.
