Mobed Mehraban Firozgary Passes Away

Mobed Mehraban Firozgary, esteemed Zoroastrian priest and scholar, passed away on 7th March, 2025, in Tehran, Iran. He was greatly respected for his unwavering dedication to the spiritual and cultural preservation of the Zoroastrian community in Iran. For over four decades, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Tehran Anjuman e Mobedan (Council of Mobeds), playing a pivotal role in guiding religious practices and upholding traditions.

His deep knowledge of the Avesta and Yasna prayers made him instrumental in the ordination of new priests through the Nowe Zooty (Navar) ceremony, ensuring the continuity of Zoroastrian priesthood in Iran. His dedication to religious education inspired countless young Zoroastrians to uphold their faith.

Beyond his priestly duties, Mobed Firozgary was appointed Chief Registrar for Zoroastrian marriages in Tehran by the Iranian Justice Ministry, a testament to the immense trust and respect he commanded. In addition to his religious service, he was a skilled Industrial Electrical and Electronics engineer, originally trained in India. He worked with JN Marshall and Co. across Bangalore, Madras, and Bombay before continuing his career in Iran. Even after retirement, he remained active in serving his community.

Although born and raised in Yazd (Iran), his time in India allowed him to speak fluent Parsi Gujarati, endearing him to the Parsi community. He was deeply loved wherever he lived, known for his kindness, humility, and unwavering dedication to helping others. A true gentleman and beloved religious leader, Mobed Firozgary treated everyone with warmth and respect. His legacy as a religious leader, scholar, and compassionate human being has left an indelible mark on the Zoroastrian community, ensuring that its traditions and values continue to thrive for generations to come.
