Community Gets A New Navar – Ervad Amavand Panthaky

Thirteen year old, Ervad Amavand Panthaky, completed the first step of initiation into Zoroastrian priesthood- ‘The Navar ceremony’, at the Vatcha Gandhi Agiary, Hughes Road on Sunday 8th May 2016 (Ashishvangh Roj, Adar Mahino). His mother, Mrs. Bakhtavar Panthaky, dedicated the ceremony in the memory of his maternal uncle, Mr. Godrej Daruwalla. She entrusted her son to the respected Er. Dr. Ramiyar Karanjia at the Dadar Athornan Institute because she wanted him to serve Pak Aatash Padshah Saheb and the needs of the laity. Er. Aspandiyar Dadachanji and Er. Adil Bhesania performed the ceremony. The ordination ceremony was sponsored by Mr. Noshir Mistry from Mumbai. Speaking to Parsi Times, Amavand said, “I want to be a part time priest and work as a Computer Engineer”. We wish him success in all his endeavours.
