VIVO IPL 2018: CSK Crowned Champions

Shane Watson’s unbeaten 117 off 57 balls along with Suresh Raina’s 32 off 24 deliveries and Ambati Rayudu’s 16 over 19 balls helped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) script a fairy tale ending to their IPL 2018 finals by eight wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. After winning the toss captain Dhoni’s team (CSK) elected to field. SRH skipper Kane Williamson top scored an unbeaten 47 runs. Yusuf Pathan smashed an unbeaten 45 while Carlos Brathwaite pulled off 21 runs in 11 balls and set the total of 178-6 in 20 overs. In reply, CSK’s ‘Man of the Match’, Shane Watson, smashed 11 boundaries and 8 magnificent sixes, bagging CSK their third IPL title, as they finished at 181-2 in 18.3 overs.

IPL recognised players for their performance thus – Rishabh Pant was awarded ‘Emerging Player’ and ‘Stylish Player’ of the season; ‘IPL Fairplay Award’ was awarded to Mumbai Indians. Trent Boult was awarded ‘Perfect Catch of the Season’, while Sunil Narine was adjudged ‘Super Striker’ of the Season. Andrew Type picked the Purple Cap and Kane Williamson won the Orange Cap.
