Parsi Times congratulates the Bala sisters Dr. Sharmin Sarosh Bala and Dr. Natasha Sarosh Bala, from Mumbai’s Malcolm Baug, for having once again done brilliantly in their respective fields in Medicine.
Dr. Sharmin Bala (MBBS. MD. PhD) completed her Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in the midst of the pandemic, this year. Her specialisation is treating patients with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Having completed her MBBS from Pravara Medical College and her Masters in Clinical Pharmacology (MD) from MIMER college, Sharmin is currently working on a research grant at the University of Otago, in collaboration with the University of Auckland, doing research on the impact of COVID-19 on the health and psychosocial status of vulnerable older Māori and Pacific people living in the community; and aged residential care. She is an avid reader of spiritual and consciousness studies, enjoys her time off honing her hobbies like ice-skating, singing and cooking exotic vegetarian dishes.
Dr. Natasha Bala (MBBS. MD-Pediatrics) completed her MBBS from Seth GS Medical College (KEM Hospital) and MD in Pediatrics from State University of New York USA. She was a part of the team of doctors that treated Covid patients during the spread of the disease in New York. She is currently pursuing her Fellowship (Super specialisation) in Pediatric Hemato Oncology. She treats child-patients suffering from cancer at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio (USA). Natasha likes travelling, skiing and is fond of reading.
