10-year-old Kaairah Marzee Kerawala, from Mumbai’s Panthaky Baug, won the Gold medal in the Mumbai City District Taekwondo Competition 2023, organised by the National Sports Promotion Organization (NSPO) and recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, which was held at Andheri Sports Complex, on 23^rd September, 2023.

Studying in the fifth grade at Arya Vidya Mandir School (Juhu), Kaairah is currently a Green-1 belt in Taekwondo, and has been training diligently for the past three years now, under the watchful mentorship of Coach Ameerullah Shah, National Referee and 3rd Dan Black Belt, at Elite Taekwondo and Fitness Academy, which conducts Taekwondo classes at the Panthaky Baug pavilion, thrice weekly.

“While learning Taekwondo, I understood how to defend myself. I enjoy going to Taekwondo classes with my colony friends. I would like to thank Ameer sir for encouraging me and training me to take part in this competition, it has made me confident,” shares Kaairah who credits Coach Ameer, under whose expert guidance, she exhibited her skill, courage and sportsmanship, leading to this achievement.
