J B Vachha School Holds Centennial Celebrations

The J B Vachha High School celebrated its milestone centennial year on 21st October, 2023, at the Jehangir Memorial School Hall, with an evening of poetry, song, dance, drama, even as nostalgic students, ex-students and ex-teachers and staff came together to share precious memories of their school days.

A variety program – ‘Memories / Yaadein’ – conceived by former teacher Shernaz Talati, and produced by the Vachha & C J Schools Ex-students Association, and Secretary Hufrish Bamji, show-cased some admirable talent and achievements of the JBV alumni, enthralling the packed hall for over three hours.

Chief Guest – Hoshang Sinor alongside Principal – Banoo Makujina and Jasmine Siganporia (President, Ex Students Association) unfurled the school flag and lit the lamp. An original poem recited by an alumni paid rich tributes to the founders, principals and teachers, expressed in song, dance and shayari format by ex-students. The Chief Guest then felicitated the educationists among the alumni, who went on to become teachers and Heads of Depts. in numerous academic institutions.

Revisiting one’s alma mater left everyone emotional, as they strolled through school building, recounting memories in the lunch room, the play-shed, the Hall, and meeting up with old teachers and classmates.

Established on 24th June, 1924, under the munificence of Mancherji Edulji Joshi, the J B Vachha High School for Parsi Girls and the Cowasji Jehangir Primary and Infant Schools came into being in the leafy environs of Five Gardens, in Dadar Parsi Colony. Cosmopolitan for many decades now, the School follows the ICSE curriculum and is ranked 10th Best in India and 4th Best in Mumbai, among the Girls Day Schools.
