Dear Readers,
“Isn’t it cute how you Bombay bawajis think you’re experiencing ‘winter’ when the mercury bothers to drop by half a degree!” quipped a fellow Parsi residing in the capital. Yes, yes, we get it. Mumbai is known for its unrelenting heat and humidity, and maybe ‘Bombay Winters’ is an oxymoron, but I assure you, there’s no place more chilled out to be than Aamchi Mumbai, during the festive season with revelries galore – lagans, navjotes, parties et al!
Always a splendid sight to see our gorgeous community belles or ‘fatakris’ resplendent in their Gara saris and our handsome, ‘chikna’ bawas all shaven and dazzling, adding to the visual jubilation. And of course, there’s food and drinks overflowing as we celebrate meeting up with family and friends, as we collectively celebrate having made it through the year that was, and look forward with hope to a new year blessed with happiness, success and togetherness.
It’s indeed time to celebrate the ‘New’… the onset of a new season, a new round of festivities, new things to shop for, new people to meet, new travel plans, new ideas to celebrate Christmas, New year and so on. So, how about this time around, we level up the ‘New’ some more…
How about a new, renewed sense of self-commitment towards our goals, especially health? How about a new outlook, devoid of past grudges or pain? How about a new attitude of acceptance towards fresh or contradictory perspectives? How about a new resolve to putting in more effort (beyond words) in showing appreciation for those we love or take for granted? How about a new commitment to work towards the unity and growth of our community, and more importantly, how about a new sense of gratitude instead of entitlement, for all that we have been blessed with, as a community?
Here’s looking forward to a whole new season of festivities and to a new you!
Have a fun weekend!!
