The Seth Edulji Rustomji Soonawalla Agiary, at Mahim in Mumbai, organized a Jashan ceremony recently, performed by Er. Jehangir Dastoor and Er. Adil Desai, to a packed audience of devotees. This was followed by a collective Humbandagi.
Dr. Jasmine Tavadia welcomed Chief Guest Er. Rooyinton Peer, alongside the Trustees and Panthaki Er. Kersasp Sidhva. Hanoz Patel was welcomed as the new Trustee. Er. Peer spoke on, ‘Zarathusti Dharam Ma Khoreh Ni Samjan’, where he elucidated the meaning of Khoreh, as ‘aura’ and its significance. He spoke on the religion’s tenets being most hygienic and scientific, and the virtues of purity and cleanliness, saying, “While ‘cleanliness is next to godliness’ for rest of the world, for Zarthostis, cleanliness is godliness itself!” He expounded the Zoroastrian way of life and the importance of maintaining traditional customs, calling for collective community efforts to preserve the religion for future generations.
Trustee Kersi Tavadia gave the vote of thanks. The event concluded with the distribution of chasni and light refreshments, amidst much community camaraderie.
