WZCC Holds 13th AGM

World Zarathushti Chamber of Commerce (WZCC) Indian recently held its 13th Annual General Meeting on 24th September, 2016 in Mumbai. Capt. Percy Master, President-India Region kicked off the AGM with a welcome address, followed by a talk by Edul Daver, WZCC-Global President, from New York, emphasizing how business is a two-way street and WZCC should strive to bring the Global Community together.

Compere for the eve, Behroze Daruwalla, Chairperson of Women’s Entrepreneur Wing – International Board, declared the AGM open and requested Farrokh Rustomji to conduct the proceedings. Adi Siganporia, Chairman-Mumbai Chapter and Viraf Deboo (Pune Chapter), presented the annual reports and series of events conducted covering trade and commerce. Rustomji concluded the AGM after completion of all formalities.

indu-shahaniChief Guest Dr. Indu Shahani, Mumbai’s ex-Sheriff and ex-Dean of HR College of Commerce and Economics spoke on ‘Education – The Elixir of Life’ lucidly, describing India’s education scenario and emphasizing the importance of education in one’s life using several anecdotes of how she was able to transform the lives of several students and small entrepreneurs. She stressed on how the Parsi Community has preserved ‘values’ and ‘ethics’, lead by the Tatas, paying them a glowing tribute for their unique and most sought after characteristics. She received a standing ovation for her speech.
Entertainment followed next comprising magic tricks by teenage magician Zeenia Bhumgara, (Merlin Awardee, International Magicians Association, USA) who was joined by her father, Mhelly Bhumgara – renown illusionist and mentalist. The highlight of the evening was a musical recital by another teenager and talented violinist Leah Divecha, a student at the NCPA School of Music, learning under and performing in concerts with her teachers from Kazakhstan, who are members of the Symphony Orchestra of India. The meeting ended with exquisite wines sponsored by Nainaz Shroff, MD, Taylor and Shroff and a sumptuous dinner.
