India Win Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Dharamsala hosted India’s victory in the final Test Match by 8 wickets, as also the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1. Opting to bat first, Australia amassed 300 in 88.3 overs as Steven Smith scored 111. Debutant Kuldeep Yadav grabbed 4-68 in 23 overs. India scored 332 in 118.1 overs as KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja made half centuries. Nathan Lyon picked up 5 wickets. During their second innings, the Aussies were bundled out for a mere 137 in 53.5 overs as Umesh Yadav and the spin twins Jadeja-Ashwin, each took 3 wickets. India cruised to victory with KL Rahul and skipper Ajinkya Rahane remaining unbeaten on scores of 51 and 38 respectively. This was Rahane’s first match victory as Indian Captain. Ravindra Jadeja was awarded Man of the Match and the Man of the
Series.

 

Tamil Nadu Clinch Deodhar Trophy: Dinesh Karthik’s outstanding contribution of a century (126) helped Tamil Nadu clinch the Deodhar Trophy, as they won by 42 runs against rivals India B in the finals at Visakhapatnam. Choosing to bat first Tamil Nadu put up 303-9 in their 50 overs. Exceptional bowling from Dhawal Kulkarni helped him snap up 5-39 in his 10 overs spell. India B were all out for 261 in 46.1 overs. Dinesh Karthik won the Man of the Match.

 

MCA Colts Reach Finals Of RFS Talyarkhan Memorial Invitation Cricket Tournament: The MCA Colts played well to beat rivals PJ Hindu Gymkhana by 4 wickets and have advanced to the finals of the RFS Talyarkhan Memorial Invitation Cricket Tournament 2016-17. They will face Bombay Gym. Batting first, Hindu Gym posted 152-9 in 20 overs as Nishad Gabhawala scored 36. Aman Khan was the pick of the bowlers scalping 3-34. MCA Colts scored 153-6 in 19.2 overs as Jay Bista (44), Arman Jaffer (40) and Kevin D’ Almeida (32) all made valuable contributions. Sujit Haravi grabbed 4-34.

Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu And Sameer Verma Advance To Second Round: Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu, along with Saina Nehwal and Sameer Verma started off great, winning against opponents and sailing into the second round of the India Super Series. Sindhu beat rival Arundhati Pantawane 21-17, 21-6. Saina defeated Chinese Taipei’s Chia Hsin Lee 21-10, 21-17 while star shuttler Sameer Verma won against Korea’s Son Wan Ho 21-17, 21-10

Johanna Konta To Face Venus Williams In Miami Open Semis: Britain’s Johanna Konta played well to win her clash against Simona Halep 3-6, 7-6(9-7), 6-2, thus becoming the first British women to reach the Miami Open Semi-finals. She will face Venus Williams for a place in the finals..
