‘Being Parsi’ With XYZ

Xtremely Young Zoroastrians (XYZ) recently organised ‘Being Parsi’ Fancy Dress competition, in keeping with Frohar Foundation’s Zoroastrian Saga event, on 23rd April, 2017, at Albless Baug. Judged by Kerafrid Damania, Lara Balsara Vajifdar and Jehangir Patel, around sixty-four children participated in four age groups, each revolving around themes including Zoroastrian Cuisine; Persian Kings, Queens and Legends; Zoroastrian Symbols and Elements; and Eminent Zoroastrians. Flaunting their Parsi-panu to a packed audience of over seven hundred people, 12-year-old Hufriya Daruvala, dressed as ‘a mix of four Ameshaspands’ says, “The competition was amazing. I was in awe at the variety of costumes presented in different categories. I want to thank my mom and dad for taking the effort to stitch lights on my costume.  I was very excited to wear it, though it was a little itchy. The competition was really tough in my category and so I was quite delighted to win the second prize”. Speaking to Parsi Times, 5-year-old Thea Tamboly said, “I dressed up as an ‘Eedu’ for the competition and I enjoyed myself. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to participate!  XYZ is the best!”
