PT:  What is the main aim of the World Zoroastrian Congress? How’s the Zoroastrian Community in Perth responding to it?
Firoz: The main aim of the WZC is to create and strengthen the bond of Brotherhood amongst all delegates – a hamazori, leading to strong networking of fellow Zoroastrians, exchange of ideas and thoughts, to be able to assist each other and form a friendship and a global connectivity. As this is the first congress to be held not only in Australia but the southern hemisphere since its beginning in 1960, there is a lot of excitement amongst the Zoroastrians of Australia and the world wide community also. We are thankful for the tremendous support received from all corners of Australia including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Goldcoast, Adelaide and  Perth – the participation and flow of ideas and innovative points is amazing.

PT: How does the WZC Perth benefit the delegates who attend?
Firoz: WZC Perth offers a fabulous mix of business and entertainment. Entrepreneurs or professionals are provided the opportunity to network and promote themselves and their businesses. Those interested in connecting with their industrial/professional counterparts should inform us in advance so we can assist in arranging meetings with the locals here – thus facilitating business promotions. There are huge business opportunities in Australia to be tapped by dynamic professionals. As for entertainment, there are precincts that cater for just that – in Perth there’s Northbridge with nightclubs, bars, pubs, cinemas and multicultural gourmet and fusion food areas offering great variety of good food. The Crown complex, hosting the WZC sessions, is an entertainment precinct with a 24-hour casino, live entertainment every evening, over 16 restaurants to choose from, serene walkways and a riverside just a short walk away with sprawling parks and kids playgrounds, etc. WZC provides the perfect platform of unity amidst an atmosphere of happiness, entertainment and peace – when our delegates get together and form lifelong friendships. For the delegates it is best to consider it as an Indian summer vacation they are having in Australia – which fortunately is on a lot of people’s bucket list. This is the perfect this time of the year, with the mild welcoming climate marking the end of summer and beginning of winter. Importantly, since it’s off-peak season, airfares are much cheaper, encouraging people to bring along their families. Sessions in Congress have been kept with max interaction amongst delegates, no lengthy lectures, and keeping it interesting and fun.

PT:  How is the itinerary for WZC Perth shaping up?
Firoz: Perth has taken upon this fab challenge of hosting the 11th WZC and we are being supported nationally and globally from our peers in USA, India, Hongkong, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada, UK, Iran, etc – it’s truly a fantastic hamazori! It is shaping into a global event of the highest standards, thanks to the varied global speakers who have agreed to attend and support us. We wish to maintain the surprise element so won’t go in too much detail but you can be rest assured of having a hassle-free experience and the best time of your life! It will be a great mix of business promotion/networking and absolute entertainment. Topics discussed will include Priests, Religion, Culture, Women, Youth, etc, and some are clubbed together so that if a delegate is not interested in one, he can attend another in adjoining sessions. The WZCC and Congress team will also felicitate all those who have worked hard to bring community members together in their local areas and people who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields worldwide. The opening ceremony itself will be a buzz act and hopefully will be remembered for long. Aussie Perth Tours, the local Zoroastrian tour operators have offered discounted tours and accommodation packages for sightseeing to Congress delegates throughout Australia. On our website we have highlighted numerous sightseeing options catering to varied interests. Many people have asked us for adventure activities, wineries, gourmet foods, etc and we have assisted them, and we will be most happy to assist your reader’s queries as well!

PT:  Why is especially meaningful and fruitful for the youth to attend?
Firoz: For the youth, the motto of the Congress – ‘Together Towards Tomorrow’ – says it all. They will have opportunities to voice their concerns and issues, as well as mingle amongst their global counterparts. Our panellists are experts in knowing how to respect and discuss topics with the youth, not lecture them. We will also introduce them to concepts that will prove helpful in the future like Financial Planning, buying Property, Future Planning and Guidelines, etc, to empower them to make correct choices. On the last day, they will all go sightseeing on a cruise exclusively for the youth, to Rottnest Island to enjoy themselves, make friendships and strengthen their network.

PT: What would you like to tell our readers?
Firoz: Through Parsi Times, I would like to urge your readers and all Parsi/Irani Zoroastrians of India to attend Australia’s very first World Zoroastrian Congress and give us an opportunity to offer you our typical Australian hospitality! Come, join us and enjoy a fabulous stay in Australia with your friends and family, in the blessed spirit of Humazori!
