SOAS Shapoorji Pallonji Institute for Zoroastrian Studies Launched In UK

The SOAS Shapoorji Pallonji Institute for Zoroastrian Studies, UK, was officially declared open on 27th June, 2018, with a launch event organised in the Brunei Suite of the Brunei Gallery, SOAS University of London. The event was attended by Shapoor Mistry, whose generous donation in the name of his late grandfather, Shapoorji Pallonji provided for the new institute. This was followed by speeches by SOAS Director, Baroness Valerie Amos CH, Co-chairs of the Institute – Prof. Almut Hintze and Dr. Sarah Stewart (SOAS); and ZTFE’s Malcolm Deboo. Dastur JamaspAsa recited a few short Zoroastrian prayers, followed by a musical performance by Dr. Peyman Heydarian on the santur. The event also provided the opportunity to view a Virtual Reality film of the Yasna ritual.
