WZCC Holds 16th AGM (India Region)

On 21st September, 2019, WZCC held its 16th AGM (India Region) at a glittering function at West End Hotel in Mumbai, which saw ample attendance with senior officials and members of WZCC, their guests and dignitaries. The post-AGM program was, ably compered by Behroze Daruwalla, Chairperson, Global WE-Wing and Hon. Secretary-India Region.

Capt. Percy Master, WZCC’s Regional Director-India, appreciated the efforts of Phili Kharas – Business Advisor-International Board; Adi Siganporia – Global Corporate Secretary and VP-India and his Mumbai colleagues; as also a special mention of the stellar role played by CEO, Aspi Antia and his team. He spoke of work done by WZCC and its progressed over the years.

Chapters in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore presented details of their activities.  Tehemton Dalal – Chairman, Mumbai Chapter detailed the various events organized, commending the youth enthusiasm displayed in the annual ‘HPY’ (Holiday Program for Youth); as also notable programs conducted by the Women (WE) and Youth Wing. Tehmasp Bharucha – Chair, Pune Chapter, presented a report and success earned by Pune’s Chapter. He applauded the current Committee members team spirit. The Annual Report of Bangalore Chapter was presented by Percis Dubash, Secretary, ‘WE’ Wing Mumbai. Youth Director, Jehaan Kotwal, shared the Youth Wing Report, sharing its successful events, especially the ‘Shark Tank’ held earlier, at the Zoroastrian Youth Congress in Los Angeles. Behroze Daruwalla – Chairperson ‘WE’ Wing, International Board, shared interesting events organized by the ‘WE’ Wing.

Adi Siganporia felicitated PP Kharas on completion of his term as India’s Regional Director – International Board, and enumerated his excellent contribution towards the objectives of WZCC, amidst a standing ovation.

Advocate Zerick Dastur, the Keynote Speaker for the evening, shared his insights into ‘Law and Business’, enunciating their healthy amalgam. He spoke of his recent commendable victory, where he was responsible for making the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) set aside the 2018 Order of Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI), barring the operations of Accounting Firms, Price Waterhouse Coopers. His emphasis on the presence of Zoroastrians in the overall fraternity of Legal Profession was well appreciated by all.

Chief Guest, Dr. Minnie Bodhanwalla, CEO – Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children and Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital, spoke on Social Entrepreneurship. She spoke about the positive impact of Zarathushti Entrepreneurial and its legacy – industriousness and philanthropy – emphasizing on the need to maintain the entrepreneurial culture, contribute to the growth of economy and how Social Entrepreneurship could foster positive change in society. She closed with an audio-visual presentation of the splendid work at Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children.

Behroze Daruwalla proposed the vote of thanks to all – guests, well-wishers, auditors, committee members, staff and WZCC life member – Jamshed Mistry, for his contributions towards WZCC’s progress. The eve concluded with networking and dinner.
