Noted Advocate and ex-Trustee of the Poona Parsee Panchayat, Dara Irani, passed away in the early hours of 20^th August, 2023, at his home in Pune, at the age of 67. As per news reports, he was suffering from cancer of the bile duct and non-alcoholic cirrhosis and his passing was caused by multi-organ failure. Irani had been ailing over the past few months. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and two grandsons.

Dara Irani was the President and Trustee of the Poona Parsi Panchayat from 1992 to 2010. With a legal practice spanning across over forty years, Dara Irani fought cases in the District Civil Court, Defence Estate, the Bombay High Court and Consumer Courts. An expert in cantonment law matters, he started his practice at the Pune cantonment court. He was one of the foremost few voices to speak up for poor citizens in Pune cantonment and he fought cases for people across communities. He was known for his legal expertise and will always be remembered as one who gave hope to distressed community members as well as citizens of Pune cantonment.
