Parsi Presence Marks Joint Independence Day And Swiss National Day Celebrations

Recently, the 54th joint celebrations were held by the Indo-Swiss society commemorating India’s Independence Day as well as the Swiss National Day, in Mumbai. Chief Guest, Consul General Of Switzerland, Martin Maier extended greetings for Indian Independence day, expressing how India and Switzerland shared a historic bonding, with a rich history and natural heritage, strong ties in the field of science, technology and commerce. He was proud to see how both global economies had faced challenging times and bounced back on the path of recovery.

Viraf Chiniwalla, President of Indo-Swiss Society and proprietor of Veldon Coats Infra LLP, assured that ties between the two nations would continue to bloom. Based on the increasing demand for tourist and student visas, he said that Switzerland was as famous for Swiss watches and chocolates, as for being one of the most sought-after tourist destinations by Indians. National anthems of both countries were played, Viraf Chiniwala presented floral bouquet and a shawl to the Consul General.

Dr. Pandit Ajay Pohankar, internationally acclaimed Indian classical vocalist, was honoured for his immense contribution to Hindustani music.  The function was ably compered by Zarine Commissariat and the vote of thanks was delivered by Secretary, Veera Mundroina.
