Parsi Gate To Be Reinstalled In April 2024

Continuing PT’s coverage on the restoration of the holy Parsi Gate at Marine Drive, with the Mumbai Coastal Road Project (MCRP) slated to be operational next year, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will restore the century-old Parsi Gate at the Marine Drive promenade, over two years after it was dismantled, to make way for the 29-km mega project. The iconic Parsi Gate will be reinstalled in all its glory, but 75 metres away, from its original location, opposite the Taraporewala aquarium, Charni Road.

The new promenade is yet to be connected to the existing one as the coastal road work is still in progress. Once completed, the installation of the steps as well as the Parsi Gate will be undertaken. Though earlier the agencies had stated the reopening in January 2024, the latest reports state April as the time-period for project completion. The community fervently looks forward to the reopening of the Holy Parsi Gate which was visited frequently by community members to pray and pay respects to Ava Yazad.
