On 14^th November, 2023, the Apple Store in BKC, Mumbai, transformed into a mithai haven! Renowned photographer, Porus Vimadalal curated an exquisite session on his photographic career, a vibrant and fun workshop titled, ‘Eat Your Art Out’, which captured still-life setups, focusing on mithai — an alluring finale to Apple’s ‘Light Up Mumbai’ Diwali series.

The event was a tie-in and extension to Apple’s global Diwali campaign which was photographed by Porus with the iPhone 15. The exquisite images of mithai setups, inspired by Indian architecture and geometry – were truly a feast for the eyes! The session was an absolute hit – marked by Porus’ insights into his background, creative process along with a visual walkthrough of his work for top fashion magazines, designers, and personal projects like the documentary series on Udvada and Cusrow Baug – in collaboration with designer Ashdeen Lilaowala, and ‘The Parsi Nose’, in collaboration with his husband, stylist Prayag Menon.

The audience also got to participate in capturing mini mithai setups that were installed at the event, on their devices, with some of the images featured on the video wall. Porus concluded the session with a vibrant interactive Q & A session, as well as personal interactions with the audience. All in all, this evening was truly lit up!

Having completed his photography course from the Vancouver School of Media Arts in 2011, Porus has worked with legacy publications including Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and a number of designer labels (including Ashdeen Lilaowala). He moved to Toronto in 2018, with husband and frequent collaborator, stylist Prayag Menon, in a new setting and industry, earning much recognition. 2023 saw Vimadalal and Menon relocate to India, re-immersing themselves in the Indian fashion and creative industry, where they have been creating waves with their talent and creativity.
