The club grounds of Calcutta Parsee Club was abuzz with food frenzy, as it hosted its annual food festival – the Parsi Food Bazar, which was attended by over 550 patrons. Convened by Calcutta Parsee Club committee member – Farhad Masterr, the fest has been gaining much popularity over the past few years, not just within the community but also among other keen Kolkatans!
Parsi home-cooks put up an impressive feast, offering the delighted patrons quintessential Parsi dishes including Patra-Ni-Macchi, Mutton Dhansak, Berry Pulao, Dar-ni-Pori, Lagan-nu-Custard and more. There were other stalls as well offering traditional Parsi knick-knacks including stained-glass showpieces, chalk-stencils, handicrafts and garments. The much looked forward to annual Treasure Hunt and Lucky Draw stalls were a big hit as always!
The idea of a Parsi Food Bazaar at the Calcutta Parsee Club was conceived by Bahadur Postwalla, with the aim of fund-raising to promote the Club’s sporting activities. It has since, become one of Kolkata’s keenly awaited social events sought after by people from all communities.
