The Young Rathestars – our community’s leading Social Welfare Association, from Dadar Parsi Colony, held a Parsi New Year bonanza, with its Annual Grain Distribution Program, at the Sorab Palamkote Hall in Mumbai, on 28th July, 2024. The Grain Distribution is an annual tradition of charity by the Young Rathestars, which spans for over three decades.
Spearheaded by our community’s dynamic personality – Arnavaz Jal Mistry (President) alongside Homiyar Doctor (Vice President), Yassmin Mistry (Treasurer), Shiraz Guard and Kashmira Khambatta (Jr. Secs) and dedicated committee members, this year’s grain distribution benefitted over 450 Parsi/Irani Zoroastrian families, who were provided with sadra, food grains, pulses, tea, sugar, oil, toiletries, house hold items, linen and a plastic tub to bring in the New Year with positivity.
Arnavaz Mistry and Homiyar Doctor addressed the gathering and spoke about the legacy of the organisation which was established in 1942, and has since been devoted to the welfare of the less privileged Parsi community members. They shared New Year greetings with all. A round of thanks was extended to the donors for their generosity, even as the team committed to take forward the Young Rathestars brilliant legacy of philanthropy.
Speaking to Parsi Times, Arnavaz Mistry and Yassmin Mistry shared how the emphasis is as much on charity as it is on ensuring hospitability and warmth to its beneficiaries to feel loved and comforted. The team ensures everyone receives all the items and the elderly are supported by volunteers to carry the heavy bags filled with utilities.
Kudos to team Young Rathestars for organizing various programs through the year which also include reaching out to provide support to the poor Zarthosti families residing in rural villages in the interiors of Gujarat.
