Reckoned as India’s trailblazing Ophthalmologist, lauded globally for his unmatched genius and breakthroughs in the field of professional eye-care, the hat of the dynamic Dr. Cyres Mehta dons many tall feathers, beyond the field of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Cyres claimed the top spot at the All-India Open Shooting Championships (Open Competition Rifle/Pistol), organised by the National Rifle association of India, held in Goa, from 18th – 28th August, 2024. The new shooting champ, Dr. Cyres Mehta represented Maharashtra, scoring an unbeaten 270/300, to win the Gold in the Men’s Masters .32 Centre Fire competition.
This win adds to his earlier gold-medal winning performance at the 27th Capt. S J Ezekiel Memorial Maharashtra State Shooting Championships, organized by the Maharashtra Rifle Association, held at the MRA Shooting Ranges, in Mumbai, in June 2024.
Having started shooting as a hobby only two years ago, it is indeed laudable for Dr. Cyres Mehta to have clinched this achievement in such a short time. He now looks to continue his winning streak at the National Championships which will be held in Bhopal, in November this year.
Dr. Cyres Mehta’s dynamism extends to also being an author, a pianist and a bike connoisseur, in addition to setting new standards and breakthroughs in expert eye-care. In recognition of his pioneering contributions to ophthalmology, Dr. Cyres K. Mehta has been the recipient of over 40 global and national awards, including the International Hero of Indian Ophthalmology, ‘Leading Eye Surgeon of India’, The SOI International Award, Youngest Eye Surgeon, British Ophthalmic Excellence Award, Swiss Eye Research Foundation Award, and many more.
Doing the community and the nation tremendously proud of his exemplary achievements in eclectic areas, Dr. Cyres Mehta’s legacy is celebrated nationally and globally for its path-breaking advancements in eye-care, remedying some of the most complicated eye diseases.
