17-year-old racing prodigy, Hoshmand Freddy Elavia, yet again proved his mettle by achieving Runner-up position in the Senior Category Indikarting (Pro-Karting), held at Ajmera Indikarting, Mumbai’s largest and widest Indikarting track, on 24th November, 2024. Hoshmand participated in three races, securing a constant second position across the first race, second race (Reverse Grid) and third race, culminating into the over-all senior runner-up position.
Racing since age eight, Hoshmand started training in 2016 under Rayomand Banajee with the famous ‘Rayo Racing’ Indikarting, known to have created numerous world-class racing champions, including the Formula 2 champ – Jehan Daruvala.
Earlier this year in May, Parsi Times had covered Hoshmand securing the runner-up position in the Senior Category of the Indikarting Pro Karting Race, at Ajmera Indikarting itself and had also participated in the 12-hour endurance race in the Dubai 2024 series. His earlier wins include being Runner-up in the Professional Cadet category at the JK TYRE Indikarting National Championship (2016), to be later crowned the Junior Champion in the Pro Karting Championship, 2022.
The son of proud parents, Pouruchisty and Freddy Elavia, Hoshmand is currently pursuing his twelfth from Mumbai’s Wilson College in the Arts faculty. His interest and passion for racing was inspired by his father and he credits his success to parents, friends and sponsors. In the future, Godrej Baug resident, Hoshmand plans on pursuing studies in Sports Management followed by a successful career in the field of Motorsports, racing and coaching racing enthusiasts.
Karting is an increasingly practiced 4-wheel motorsport, marking the basic entry into racing, with enthusiasts starting out as early as age five.
