Homiyar Sachinwalla, an Advertising industry professional, and a prominent voice over and dubbing artist, has been training some leading film personalities in mastering the unique Parsi accent. One of his more recent stints include being the Dialect Coach for Bollywood actor, Chunky Pandey, who portrays the role of a Parsi doctor, in the film, ‘Vijay 69’, a Yash Raj Films production, which debuted on Netflix on 8^th November, 2024.

“I was approached to coach Chunky in the Parsi Gujarati dialect in March 2023. I coached Chunky all of April. It was a memorable experience as he’s fun, intelligent and a well-read actor who does thorough research for his roles. The accent was per the brief received from director Akshay Roy, whose mother is Parsi. Initially, Akshay wanted Chunky’s character to speak normal Hindi, but after the first reading (of the script) the quirkiness and fun part was missing, so we retained the stereotypical accent,” shared Homiyar.

Speaking to Parsi Times, Chunky Pandey shared, “My character of Dr. Fali Bhathena would have been impossible to enact without Homiyar’s coaching and inputs over a month, where I’d observe minute details and mannerisms and have learnt some fun and famous Parsi punchlines. Homiyar honed me to portray my Parsi character which I so enjoyed playing. I wish I had the opportunity of playing this character earlier in my career. I enjoyed it thoroughly! I hope the community enjoys watching ‘Vijay 69’.”

Homiyar has earlier coached actor Amir Khan for portraying the role of a Parsi character in an advertisement for Walkaroo (2019), as also a Balaji Television actress portraying a Parsi role in the tele-serial, ‘Bebaakee’. Having held leadership positions in Ad-agencies in Dubai and Mumbai, Homiyar decided to get professional training as a voice over and dubbing artist in 2013 and has since voiced for over 200 brands in English and Hindi across advertisements, animation films, sports, etc., in addition to coaching stars on the Parsi dialect.
