Surat’s Amroli Agiary Celebrates Glorious 221st Salgreh

The auspicious 221st salgreh of Surat’s Amroli Agiary or the Hormasji Bomanji Wadia Adarian, situated in Amroli village in Surat, was celebrated on 21st November, 2024 (Roj Adar, Mah Tir), amidst much religious fervour. A Hama Anjuman Machi was performed in the Havan Geh at 9:30 am, followed by a Khushali-nu-Jashan at 10:30 am, performed by its diligent Panthaki Er. Kaizad F. Mandviwalla. Devotees offered coconuts and placed a beautiful flower jaali on the pious kua housed within the compound. Also present on the occasion were Anahita Desai, Trustee of Amrolia Agiary, along with Behram Amrolia, Zarin Amrolia, Khojeste Mistree and Meher Panthaki (former trustees included Faredoon Amrolia, Percy and late Yazdi Desai).

The Amroli Agiary is meticulously taken care of by Panthaky Er. Kaizad Mandviwala and his wife, Parizad. Post the prayers, all devotees were invited to their home for a delicious lunch, cooked by Parizad and graciously served along with her daughters, mother and mother-in-law. Their warmth and hospitality was greatly appreciated by all. “I pray that every Agiary be blessed with a Panthaki like our Er. Kaizad Mandviwalla. The dedication and passion that he and his family have for the Atash Padshah is inspirational and amazing,” shared Anahita Desai, on the occasion.

The Amroli Agiary was consecrated in 1803 by Hormusji Bomanji Wadia. A small kebla houses the divine Atash Padshah placed in a large afarghanu, adding to the divine and majestic feel of this quaint Agiary, which has retained its original, rustic look. Its 131-year-old stone flooring has witnessed and absorbed the vibrations of thousands of Atash Nyaishes. The highlight of the Amroli Agiary is its kua (well) in the courtyard, in front of the Agiary, famously called the ‘Wishing Well’, believed to grant the wishes of all devotees who pray to it.

Located 30 minutes from Surat station, Zarthostis are encouraged to visit the sublime Amroliwala Agiary and experience both, its divine energy and the warm hospitality of its dedicated and gracious caretakers, the Mandviwalla family (Contact: 9374998829 / 9375980442).
