Father-Son Duo Continues Inspiring All At Mumbai Marathon

At the 20th edition of the Mumbai Marathon, which was held on 19th January, 2025, the remarkable father-son duo, Er. Jehangirji Mobedji (74) and Yazad Mobedji (42), proved yet again that age is just a number when it comes to perseverance and passion. Residents of Cusrow Baug and regulars at its gym, the duo participated in the Half Marathon, finishing in 3 hours, 45 minutes and 24 seconds.

Jehangirji has been running since 2007, when he first participated in the Half Marathon and later took on the Full Marathon. Yazad, his son, joined the race in 2011, and together, they have made the event a family tradition. “We do not compete; rather, we complete,” says the duo, emphasizing their shared mantra of completing the race regardless of time.

Despite facing health challenges, both have persevered, with Jehangirji clocking in 12 Full Marathons and 5 Half Marathons since 2007. Interestingly, both father and son have also participated in the ‘Must Run’, held in December 2014 at the Bandra Kurla Complex. Beyond their athletic achievements, Jehangirji has been serving as a priest at the Dadysett Agiary for the last 63 years, of which he served as the Panthaky for almost 45 years. Yazad has been working at Vivanta-By-Taj President since 2006 but also helps his father with Mobedi duties.

Their enduring love for running, coupled with their inspiring mantra, continues to motivate others in our community. The Mobedji family’s legacy is a testament to the power of dedication and resilience in both sports and life.
