Wake Up And Smell The Conspiracy!
Dear Readers,
It is sad but true – we rarely realise the value of our rights and privileges… at least not until we’re denied of these. In India and the world over, we cherish the select reputation of being Parsi. Even more than this premium-profile-on-a-platter, we enjoy exclusive benefits simply by belonging to this outstanding community, like subsidised housing, et al.
This sterling reputation and benefits were bequeathed to us by our diligent forefathers, who believed in charity, fairness, democracy and most importantly, the welfare of our community. Thus, they instituted the Bombay Parsi Punchayet as an embodiment of these beliefs; to be run by venerated community leaders as its Trustees or custodians. For over three hundred years, the Trustees delivered unto the community.
Unfortunately, it’s a different story today. The constant infighting and political power-play amongst BPP Trustees has hit a new low, compromising not just the foundation of the BPP, but the hard endeavours of our ancestors. As a community, we have a right to choose our leaders. The BPP leadership, nay ‘majority’, is doing all it can to deny us just that! Why? Today’s issue explores just that in detail, in the hope that we will, as a community, rise to protect what is ours – as both, an individual right and a collective responsibility.
It’s time to wake up and smell the conspiracy. And then do what it takes to make things right.
Have a good weekend!
