The Heat Is On!

Dear Readers,

We’re back in the sweat and heat of the summer grind, with the Met Dept. predicting only hotter weather for our maximum city, which could well outdo its maximum heat record this summer. The heat is well and truly on.

The heat will also be felt by our community for reasons beyond the usual change of solstice, as April and May mark the onset of campaigning season for the BPP Elections, scheduled on 29th May, 2022.

Most of us will adopt those much-needed measures to protect ourselves from the scorching heat of the sun. But will we adopt adequate measures to ensure we don’t end up, yet again, burning those very fingers which click on the names of undeserving candidates?

…Like those who have no track record proving their commitment to community service, and who, in reality, have simply been propped up for the sake of dividing votes. Or worse, those who have proven to be ineffective leaders after we voted them in the last time… simply put – ‘proxy / puppet trustees’ who danced to the tunes of forces outside of the BPP, veiling their selfish, personal agendas behind fake, community-centric manifestos.

Let’s apply the sun-screen of intelligence to protect our trust from being burnt to cinders again. Let us stand under the umbrella of truth and reason, so it repels all the lies and drama that will be showered upon us. Let us choose to consume the cooling facts (verified information) over heated fiction (twisted truths).

In doing so, we will have protected not just our skin and our sensibilities, but also the futures – of a Trust that needs to seriously rebuild its credibility and a Community that needs to start trusting its leaders again.

Have a good weekend!

– Anahita
