Winning Strokes By Khaiz Gheewala At GMAAA

16-year-old champ swimmer, Khaiz Cyrus Gheewala, has yet again emerged the swimming champ, winning 3 Golds and 2 Silvers in the ‘Under-17’ category, at the recently conducted Greater Mumbai Amateur Aquatics Association (GMAAA) swimming competition, which was held from 31st May to 2nd June, 2024, in Mumbai.

Competing against hundreds of swimmers who had participated from across Mumbai, Khaiz bagged gold medals in 50m and 100m Breaststroke with PB’s in both events, and claimed silver medals in the 200m and 400m races. His performance was applauded by all as he broke his own record which was set last year in the 200m breast stroke by almost a second.

Residing in Dubai, Khaiz faced hardships with no pool to practice in, over the past 5 years during his visit to Mumbai, and had to make do practicing within the pool time received in a municipality pool, swimming amidst dozens of others, with no lane discipline. But now, thanks to coach Anup Radhakrishnani, Khaiz will be able to practice better as he will be representing Somaiya Institute in Mumbai.

The son of proud parents, Meher and Cyrus Gheewala, Khaiz has been professionally competing in swimming since the past seven years. Here’s to many more winning strokes by Khaiz!
