Carrom And TT Tourneys Keep Spirits High In Navsari

To keep the spirits high amidst the arrival of heavy rains in Navsari, the Parsi Cultural Division of Garda College Trust sponsored an indoor event comprising Carrom and Table Tennis competitions, at the Ava Baug Parsi Colony’s Hall, on 28th July, 2024, with assistance from the local sports enthusiast Eric Bacha and friends.

The famous saying from the film Munnabhai, ‘Carrom Ramvanu, Juice Pivanu, Majjha ni Life!’ rang true as the games began with 58 participants for Carrom and 49 TT players – and not to forget the enthusiastic local Parsi audience, cheering on their favourites – all amidst even during a heavy rainfall all around them, showing the characteristic Parsi resilience amidst an actual storm in the township.

Chairman of the Trust, Dara K. Deboo and Eric Bacha whole-heartedly encouraged the participants and praised the volunteers and organizers and congratulated the winner of numerous tournaments.

The winners in the Table Tennis Tourney were Zarvan Patel (Open Singles); Barjish Shroff and Shezad Chothia from Valsad (Open Doubles); Kaizad Aspi Kasad (Over 50); and Vizan Bacha (Under-18). In Carrom, the winners included Hormaz Mogal (Open Singles); Kaizad Bamji and Cherag Sukhadia (Open Doubles); Zinobia Ambapardiwala (Open Singles – Girls); and Armaity Patel and Zinobia Khan (Open Doubles – Girls).
