India Win 3rd ODI, Clinch Series Against Sri Lanka

Outstanding batting performances by Rohit Sharma (124*) and MS Dhoni (67*) helped India win the 3rd ODI by 6 wickets, clinching the series too. Batting first Sri Lanka notched up 217-9 in 50 overs. Lahiru Thirimanne top scored with 80. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers scalping 5-27 in his 10 overs spell. Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Kedar Jadhav picked up 1 wicket each. In reply, the visitors cruised to victory yet again, with 218-4 in 45.1 overs. At one stage India were struggling at 61-4 in 15.1 overs, but a great 157* partnership by Dhoni and Rohit, the third highest fifth wicket stand for India against Sri Lanka, got them home. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was declared Man of the Match.

Duleep Trophy Begins In September

Suresh Raina will Captain India Blue, while Abhinav Mukund will lead India Red and Parthiv Patel will be skipper for India Green for the Duleep Trophy, to be held in Kanpur and Lucknow from 7th to 29th  September, 2017. The five-day finals will be held in Lucknow from 25th to 29th September.

PV Sindhu Wins Silver At WBC

Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu fought extremely hard but unfortunately clinched second place and won silver for India in the World Badminton Championship, losing to Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 19-21, 22-20, 20-22 in a thrilling final which was played for 1 hour and 49 minutes

Premier League Results

On 26th August, Manchester City beat AFC Bournemouth 2-1, Swansea City outplayed Crystal Palace 2-0, and Newcastle United won 3-0 against West Ham United, while Manchester United beat Leicester City 2-0. Huddersfield Town and Southampton played out a goalless draw while Watford and Brighton and Hove Albion too were involved in a 0-0 draw. The following day, Chelsea played well to clinch a 2-0 victory against Everton, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City drew their encounter 1-1, Liverpool played splendidly well and beat rivals Arsenal 4-0 and finally Burnley were involved in a 1-1 draw V/s Tottenham Hotspur

Angelique Kerber Out Of US Open

Defending champion and sixth seed Angelique Kerber crashed out of the US Open in the first round itself, by Japan’s 46-seeded Naomi Osaka, 6-3, 6-1.
