All Parsees Sports Foundation organised the ‘35th Jal D. Pardivala Annual Athletic Meet 2018’ under the auspices of the Navroze Baug Play Centre, Mancherji Edalji Joshi Memorial Trust Dadar, Cusrow Baug United Sports and Welfare League, Federation of Zoroastrian Associations for Welfare and Culture (FOZAWAC) on 3rd and 4th February, 2018, at the University Stadium, Marine Lines. Sponsored by World Zoroastrian Organisation Trust, Zoroastrian Bank, Zarine and Yazdi Daruvala Charitable Trust, Pirojsha Godrej Foundation, Hilla Builders and the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP), the Organizing Committee comprising President, Mithoo Jesia, Vice-Presidents, Rusi Bhumgara and Mahiyar Dastoor, Joint Hon. Secretaries, Ruzbeh Sutaria and Daraius Zaiwala, Joint Hon. Treasurer, Rustom Banker along with Cyrus Siganporia and Maharukh Sutaria, put in great effort to make this event a grand success.
Over four hundred and eighty two athletes from various schools participated in 100 different events. In the spot entries, two-year-old Rianna Mehta participating in the 80m run in the Girls Under-6 category, and oldest participant, 70-year-old Farokh Buhariwalla were the highlights of Day-2 of the meet. The host, Mahiyar Dastoor welcomed Chief Guest Dr. Aashish Contractor and wife, Firoza Contractor, and Guests of Honour, Khurshid Mistry, Fareez Vasania and Rohinton Mehta. Speaking to Parsi Times, Ruzbeh Sutaria felicitated with the ‘Lifetime Contribution in the Field of Parsee Sports’ Award said, “The purpose of this trophy is to recognise the efforts of a person who has contributed to the success of the community in the field of sports and it is an honour for me to receive this award.” The meet concluded with the National Anthem sung by Rusi Bhumgara.
