The Women Graduates Union (WGU) offers scholarships to girl students who have recently cleared the HSC examination and are looking for financial assistance to pursue graduation. Scholarships will be provided on a `Need-Cum-Merit’ basis. All applications will be considered, while the short-listed candidates will be interviewed by senior WGU members. The final selection is made by the Scholarship Committee and the same will be awarded at an award ceremony. The various scholarships offered by the WGU are `The HM Seervai Career Training Award’, `The Amy Rustomjee International Scholarships For Foreign Students’ and many more in the name of specific donors.
To apply for a scholarship, applicants need to submit: parents’/guardian’s certificate of Income duly certified by employer; photo copies of mark sheets of previous exams; research students would need to give details of their guides and submit their status report; bonafide certificate from the Institute where admission is taken. Last date of submission is 31st August, 2018.
Speaking to Parsi Times, Vice President of WGU, Dr. Arnavaz Havewala said, “WGU has been offering scholarships since sixty years now. There are no particular number of seats designated per scholarship. The number of scholarships offered depend on the donations collected in that year.” Through its scholarship programme, WGU fulfils its main purpose of empowering women and motivating them to pursue higher education.
