Prof. Rashna Palia Scores Gold In Athletics Post Retirement!

In the third Master’s Athletic Championships held at the Madrasa High School, Navsari, 59-year-old Professor Rashna F. Palia, secured the first rank in the 100m running and shot-put events, in the age group of 50 to 60 years. Around 150 athletes participated in different sporting categories including throw ball, wheel throwing, long jump, and running in 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m races.

Having retired from the famous Garda College of Navsari after putting in thirty years of service as a teacher, Professor Rashna Palia had always nurtured a keen interest in athletics. She was eager to participate in the Master’s Athletic Championships as soon as she was informed of the same by her former student – Rajesh Patel, who currently works at Madrasa High School, and who greatly encouraged her to take part in this competition. Delighted on her wins in shot-put and running, she extended gratitude to Rajesh on her splendid achievement.

Despite having taken voluntary retirement at the age of 59, her youthful spirit, confidence and enthusiasm continues to earn her accolades. Sharing her joy with the media about her participation and achievement in athletics at this age, she quipped jokingly, “Abhi to mein jawan hoon! (I’m still so young!).” When asked about her future plans, she shared, “In keeping with this victory, I will now practice and continue to participate in state level games. I hope to win even at the state level and raise the name of my Garda College and Navsari!”
