Celebrations At A H Wadia Baug

The A H Wadia Baug Welfare Centre recently organized festivities over two days in the Baug, with the theme, ‘Better Together’, showcasing the objectives of the Welfare Centre – promoting comradeship among residents, via various activities including sports, religion, culture music and education.

A mélange of Parsi breakfast set the tone for fun game sessions and the annual variety entertainment, including a fancy dress competition judged by Parizad Sanjana; Zubin Sanjana regaling audience with Bollywood melodies; an elegant ballet performance choreographed by accomplished ballet instructor and colony resident Parinaz Guard, with other residents also showcasing their singing and dancing talents.

A round of felicitations commenced with heartfelt acknowledgments for Late Lady Hirabai Jehangir, who was represented by her grandson, Adi Jehangir; alongside founder members of the Welfare Centre. Colony and community stalwarts, including Anahita Desai and Dinshaw Tamboly were honoured for their contributions. The finale of Day 1 was a dance medley themed, ‘A Typical Day in Wadia Baug’, which received much applause. The day concluded with a patra, sit down dinner.

The heavy rains on Day 2 did not dampen the spirits of participants of the Rangoli competition, judged by Benaifer Mehta. Next was a fun Musical Housie, followed by impromptu dances and cheer. Colony residents were treated to a sit-down patranubhonu. A Tir Mahino Jashan was performed, by the Sidhwa family, in the newly refurbished Welfare Centre premises, well attended by residents who relished the chasni and malido.

Founded by Late Dr. Aloo P. Billimoria and like-minded residents, the A H Wadia Baug Welfare Centre is a cultural recreation centre for the colony founded in 1971, with the vision to bond over cultural events, sports, activities and community events.
