Over 900 people – members and guests – descended upon Mumbai’s Parsee Gymkhana (PG) on 21st March, 2024, to celebrate the traditional equinoctial festival of Jamshedi Navroze. The occasion was graced by dignitaries – Rahul Narvekar – Hon. Speaker of the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha; Makarand Narvekar – Municipal Corporator (Colaba constituency) and Sir Ron Khalifa – sitting member of the England and Wales Cricket Board.
In his address, Rahul Narvekar lauded the achievements of Parsis and for being at the forefront of Mumbai’s development for over a century, apart from contributing hugely towards the nation’s industrial progress. His brother, Makarand Narvekar reminisced his childhood years spent amidst Parsi friends at Cusrow Baug. Sir Ron Khalifa ruminated about his childhood, keenly following the progress of a cricket match at PG, sitting on the parapet. All dignitaries spent time with members and guests.
It was an evening of merriment as young and old took to the dance floor dancing away to DJ Dion’s music and enjoying the delectable spread by JafferBhai (Delhi Durbar). Earlier, the customary Jashan was held, open to all Zoroastrians, followed by a Humbandagi led by Er. Hormazdiar Dadachanji.
