Homavazir’s 11th CBDA Scouts Celebrate Annual Day

Homavazir’s 11th CBDA Scout Group celebrated its 97th Annual Day with much enthusiasm at the J B Vachha High School on 16th June, 2024. Chief Guest – Guider Shernaz Acharya, East Bombay District Commissioner for Guides and her husband, Adil Acharya were presented an impressive Guard of Honour by cubs and scouts.

The outdoor programme began with the Cub and Scout Prayer Song and flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a fiercely contested Tug-Of-War. Group Leader Zubin Bhamgara commenced the indoor programme with a warm welcome and introduction of the Chief Guest who shared an inspiring speech about the importance of scouting and also paid rich tributes to the founder – Ardeshir Homavzir.

A rendition of the group anthem followed by the famous ‘Bombay Yell’ in honour of the chief guest was followed by a report of the year’s activity by Scout Zaal Engineer. A speech on the transformative power of AI and indoor games kept the audience engaged. Demonstration of first aid techniques, tent-pitching as also a solo-act and a skit were thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

Scout Kayomarz Dhabhar shared his experiences at NASA and was felicitated by the Chief Guest for his achievements in the International Space Olympiad amid much cheering. The finale comprised a spectacular performance by cubs Zane Arethna and Mikhail Vesuwalla, climbing a 20-foot-long rope ladder demonstrating the use of ‘Fireman’s Chair Knot’ learnt in scouting. Scout Mazdaa Bharucha shared a valiant demo jummaring up to the first floor of a vertical wall, receiving much applause. The evening concluded with refreshments and camaraderie on. Kudos to Homavazir’s 11th CBDA Scout Group for their continued efforts and successes in transforming the personalities of young boys into confident and able individuals and citizens of tomorrow.
