Piroja Homi Jokhi

(20th June, 1926 – 16th August, 2024)

With much sorrow, Parsi Times shares the news of the passing of our community’s visionary and stalwart – Mrs. Piroja Homi Jokhi, at the grand age of 98 years.

She lived a blessed, productive, purposeful and fulfilling life, often contributing greatly for the good of the community and its members. She was charitable, unassuming and down to earth. She was known for being bold and forthright in expressing her views, and championing innumerable community causes.

Born in Allahabad in 1926, she came to Bombay at age 10 and studied at the Bai B. S. Bengallee Girls’ High School. She matured into a dynamic personality as a writer, a teacher and an entrepreneur.

She regularly voiced her strong, logical and solution-oriented opinions on community related issues in Parsi Times. She was a strong advocate of community unity and its wellbeing. Her writings, which reflected her indomitable spirit and never-say-die attitude, laced with her tongue-in-cheek humour and witty statements, were well-received and greatly appreciated by many.

We extend our heartfelt condolences and stand by her family in their sad loss. May her kind and noble soul attain eternal peace.
