On the 4th of November, 2018, the newly revamped Masina Hospital announced yet another feather in its cap with the inauguration of a brand new and state-of-the-art Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Center titled the ‘Masina Heart Institution’. This Center is powered by Dr. Zainulabedin Hamdulay and comprises the latest facilities, inclusive of a Cath Lab, along with diagnostic facilities like advanced 2-D Echo and Stress Test. It also holds a dedicated 11-bed Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) along with a modern modular operation theater suite equipped with all the advanced equipment. The Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Center was inaugurated by the Managing Trustee of Masina Hospital, Mr. Homi Katgara, in the presence of Dr. Hamdulay along with his family and the motivated Management Team of Masina Hospital.

Through the day, the center witnessed a stream of distinguished visitors coming in to see the new center – these included prominent doctors in the field of Cardiology and Cardiothoracic surgery as also doctors from diverse fields, local political personalities including local corporators, MLA and the MP. The unanimous review was that the facilities were top class. Those who visited the Hospital after a while were thrilled with “the New Masina Hospital” which is now equipped to face the challenges in the field of healthcare and has been taking steps to become a tertiary health care setup. All this is in conformity with the vision of the hospital to become the first choice for value and quality health care.

The establishment of this Institution has been in line with the continuous progressive improvement in the facilities which Masina Hospital has been providing and upgrading, over the last few years, under the dynamic leadership of its Medical Director, Dr. Vispi Jokhi. Speaking to Parsi Times, Dr. Jokhi said, “For the Parsi community, the availability of this facility relating to life saving interventions is a much-needed boon. I look forward to our Community using our professional services with our revamped premises and cutting edge equipment and facilities. The hospital has tied up with Ambulance providers and a Cardiac ambulance will be just a call away, at all times of the day and night. All these services will be operational in a fortnight.”

Situated in Mumbai’s Byculla area, the Masina Hospital holds 259 beds and is the first and oldest healthcare setup in Mumbai, working for all sections of the society, with an emphasis on holistic service in a safe and clean environment. Masina Hospital is especially known for its services in the ‘Burns’ and ‘Psychiatry’ departments, in addition to other multi-speciality services.
