Murzban Shroff, Farrukh Dhondy At Mumbai Lit Fest

Feted for their numerous literary works and achievements, celebrated authors – Murzban Shroff and Farrukh Dhondy, will add to the excitement with their participation in the ‘Literature Live’ segment in Mumbai’s LitFest, which will bring together 125 authors from 13 countries, over 3 days, starting 15th November, 2024. The festival boasts of an impressive roster of authors and speakers, including Gulzar, William Dalrymple, Shobhaa De, and Pico Iyer.

Pune-born Dhondy, a former editor for a TV network in England and author of over thirty books and twenty films, is known for his association with serial killer Charles Sobhraj and Nobel Prize Laureate – V.S. Naipaul. His popular books are ‘Poona Company’, ‘Bombay Duck’, and ‘The Bikini Murders’. He has also translated the poetry of Rumi.

The works of Mumbai-based Murzban Shroff explore the lives of the invisible and the marginalized, with books including ‘Breathless in Bombay’ (shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize), ‘Waiting for Jonathan Koshy’ (Finalist, the Horatio Nelson Fiction Prize), and ‘Third Eye Rising’ (rated by Esquire Magazine as among the Best Books of 2021). Shroff, a recipient of the Bacopa Review Fiction Award and the John Gilgun Fiction Award, speaks frequently at international literary festivals and universities.

Both writers will speak about their interests, their cities and the tension between truth-telling and fiction. Their 45-minute session, titled: ‘Tales from Two Cities: Offbeat Stories from Mumbai & Pune’, will be held on 16th November, 2024, at 4:10 pm at The Godrej Theatre, NCPA.
