Jashn-E-Mehregan Celebrations In Mumbai

Sazeman-E-Jawanan-E-Zartoshty-E-Irani, Mumbai celebrated ‘Jashn-E-Mehregān’ at the NM Petit Fasli Atash Kadeh on 2nd October, 2017. The event commenced with a jasan, followed by Hon. Administrator of the Sazeman, Darayush Zainabadi, speaking in Persian on the importance of Mehregān, followed by the gist of his address in English. Chief Guest and Trustee of Parsi Vegetarian and Temperance Society and Zoroastrian Radih Society, Nariman Mody gave a speech and was felicitated by Zainabadi. Mody then felicitated five members of the Sazeman committee for their meritorious services. Thanking the Iranian Zoroastrian Anjuman and the Trustees of the NM Petit Fasli Atash Kadeh for all their support, the congregation departed after partaking chasni and dry fruit packets.
As per our ancient Iranian history, the festival of Mehregān is celebrated honouring King Faredoon, who with the power of prayers, was able to defeat the evil Zohak and chain him in the Demavand Mountains. It is a form of ‘thanksgiving’ for the victory of ‘good over evil’ and is celebrated as an optional holiday across Iran.
